How to Compress an Image

Choose an image, select the output format and quality, then select Compress Image.

Choose the output before adjusting quality

This tool accepts PNG, JPEG, and WebP but exports only JPEG or WebP. JPEG turns transparent input areas white; choose WebP when the output needs transparency. Quality 80 is an encoder setting, not 80% of the original visual quality.

Compare both sizes and the preview

Re-encoding keeps the pixel dimensions but may soften fine detail or omit source metadata. An already optimized image can produce a larger output; the size-reduction indicator stops at 0% even then, so compare the displayed original and output sizes as well as the preview before replacing the original.
